The Cloud Wars – Finally?

In September 2017 I well-known that the precise cloud wrestle had not even started: The Battle for the Cloud Has Not Even Started Yet. My pondering had emerged spherical this time as I was merely exploring Oracle’s cloud method and it was clear that Oracle was not profitable the wrestle that the press and media have been severe about. That battle, on the time, was the infrastructure. At the time, Oracle was in all probability not messaging efficiently to its prospects – the vendor was trying to out-punch its larger opponents that had a a lot larger preserve on compute. What Oracle was in all probability not doing, I surmised, was messaging to the CEO and they also have been too focused on the CIO. From January 2017: https://blogs.gartner.com/andrew_white/2017/01/20/oracle-cloud-strategy/

It appears that I was most certainly correct. A model new ‘cloud wars’ was talked about these days that efficiently in distinction how SAP will compete, or not, in direction of the larger cloud infrastructure distributors. See https://cloudwars.co/sap/sap-will-battle-microsoft-google-customer-control-ceo-christian-klein/. This is type of fascinating for me given that argument listed under are the an identical ones I used when Oracle. It is type of tough when trying to test Amazon, Google, SAP, Oracle and others. Some of these distributors excel at compute/{{hardware}}, some at specific enterprise course of design, and some on notion and willpower making assist. The question is – which is most significant to who, and why?

My ideas have been clarified in February 2018 after I immediate a way to talk to enterprise people about cloud: https://blogs.gartner.com/andrew_white/2018/02/13/how-to-talk-cloud-to-business-leaders-part-2/. I feel SAP could agree. It is fascinating though – the precise cloud wars could however get started.
