German watchdog launches Amazon investigation: report

BERLIN (Reuters) – Germany’s anti-trust authority has launched an investigation into Amazon’s relationship with third-party retailers selling on its website online, its head was quoted as saying on Sunday.
“We are at current investigating whether or not or not and the way in which Amazon influences how retailers set prices on the market-place,” Andreas Mundt, President of the Federal Cartel Office, suggested the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung day-after-day.
Germany is Amazon’s second-biggest market after the United States.
During the first few months of the COVID-19 pandemic, when many retailers have been closed and customers flocked on-line, Mundt acknowledged there had been complaints that Amazon had blocked some retailers attributable to allegedly overly extreme prices.
“Amazon shouldn’t be a controller of prices,” he acknowledged, together with that Amazon had responded to his office’s requests for information and folks statements have been being evaluated.
