EU says it could be self-sufficient in electric vehicle batteries by 2025

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – The European Union could produce enough batteries by 2025 to vitality its fast-growing fleet of electric autos with out relying on imported cells, European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic said on Tuesday.
As part of its plan to show into native climate neutral by 2050, the EU wants to boost native manufacturing of the developing blocks for inexperienced industries – along with hydrogen gasoline to make low-carbon metallic and batteries to vitality clear autos.
“I’m assured that by 2025, the EU will be able to produce enough battery cells to fulfill the desires of the European automotive enterprise, and even to assemble our export functionality,” Sefcovic suggested the online European Conference on Batteries.
