EU plans to open data to sharing in bid to rival Asia and U.S.

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – In an effort to avoid EU firms and residents relying on data from Asian and U.S rivals, the European Commission is proposing new pointers to allow sharing of public and non-public data with firms and evaluation organisations.
The European Union authorities hopes that this would possibly lead to enhancements ranging from personalised properly being cures, to increased tackling native climate change or creating precision farming strategies.
“Data wants to be accessible and the sharing of such data wants to be protected,” European Commission Vice-President Margrethe Vestager suggested a data briefing on Wednesday.
The Commission proposed a model new model based on the neutrality and transparency of so-called “data intermediaries,” which could organise data sharing or pooling, to enhance perception.
