Document worth reading: “Towards the Internet of Underground Things: A Systematic Survey”
This paper presents present advances in the area of Internet of Underground Things (IoUT) with emphasis on enabling communication utilized sciences, networking factors, and localization methods. IoUT is enabled by underground points (sensors), communication know-how, and networking protocols. This new paradigm of IoUT facilitates the integration of sensing and communication in the underground ambiance for quite a few industries corresponding to grease and gasoline, agriculture, seismic mapping, and border monitoring. These features require to assemble associated information from the deployed underground points. However, the harsh underground propagation ambiance along with sand, rock, and watersheds do not allow the use of single communication know-how for information change between the flooring and the underground points. Therefore, quite a few wi-fi and wired communication utilized sciences are used for underground communication. The wi-fi utilized sciences are based on acoustic waves, electromagnetic waves, magnetic induction and visible gentle communication whereas the wired utilized sciences use coaxial cable and optical fibers. In this paper, state-of-art communication utilized sciences are surveyed, and the respective networking and localization methods for IoUT are supplied. Moreover, the advances and features of IoUT are moreover reported. Also, new evaluation challenges for the design and implementation of IoUT are acknowledged.
