Vietnam’s answer to Tesla has U.S. in its electric sights

HAIPHONG, Vietnam (Reuters) – Move over Tesla, how a couple of VinFast?
That’s the proposition being offered by the automobile arm of Vietnam’s largest conglomerate, Vingroup. It’s betting enormous on the U.S. market with its VinFast line of autos and hoping that electric SUVs and a battery leasing model could be enough to woo clients away from homegrown market leaders like Tesla and General Motors Co.
A present arrival on the automotive scene and the No. 5 car mannequin in Vietnam, VinFast is simply not transient on ambition, with its sights set on a U.S. itemizing and a valuation of as loads as $60 billion, in accordance to two sources acquainted with its plans.
