Meta to ban all Myanmar-army controlled businesses from platforms

(Reuters) – Meta Platforms Inc, beforehand usually often called Facebook, said on Wednesday it’d ban all Myanmar-military controlled businesses from having a presence on its platforms in an enlargement of its earlier curbs on the nation’s security forces.
The U.S tech large had already launched in February it’d stop all entities linked to the navy, usually often called the Tatmadaw, from selling on its platforms.
“This movement depends on intensive documentation by the worldwide neighborhood and civil society of these businesses’ direct operate in funding the Tatmadaw,” said Rafael Frankel, Meta’s Pacific director of public protection for rising worldwide places, Asia Pacific.
Myanmar’s navy overthrew Aung San Suu Kyi’s democratically elected authorities in a coup in February, prompting widespread protests.
